Under the watchful eyes of Jesus

Our doctor’s complex got bought by some Catholic institution; they sent us a bunch of brochures saying nothing would change. No word on whether contraceptives would be available, or if needed, a D&C.
Yesterday was the first time I happened in there, to have my shoulder x-rayed. But something had changed; these crucifixes are all over the place. This one is in the hallway by the elevator.
Creepy.
Oh, there are also a bunch of signs that inform us that they “Celebrate Life” now.

WTF? Are they now trying to convert the world by taking over our medical establishments? That’s just creepy.
Catholics have a long history of providing medical care, even in this county. It’s on the good side of their ledger, though I bet they aren’t non-profit anymore.
I don’t understand the rationale of plastering the torture-sculptures all over the place though. We say maybe eight of these, all alike, just going in the building and a short way down the hall to the walk-in clinic. It’s a big building so there are probably a couple hundred. Some company has a pretty good-sized operation going manufacturing them. Architect probably picked them out from a catalogue of some kind. Do we have any Catholics here who could shed light on this strange phenomenon?
Churches have no business owning medical facilities. The sort of mind that can accept nonsense because it wants to believe in it shouldn’t be in control of places that have to apply science to healing people.
Cujo, with all due respect, the Catholic church has a far better history, at least in the last century, of accepting science then say…the evangelical protestants.
Now note…I say better…I didn’t say perfect.
DOF, it’s time for an edition of One Word Answers.
“I don’t understand the rationale of plastering the torture-sculptures all over the place though.”
Guilt. Or I should say “to cultivate guilt” but that is 3 words.
