Does that mean that there are more features that have to be disabled to make this OS actually usable? The myriad layers of security on the DACL and the hierarchy of policies in 2003/XP Domains was so much overkill that you sometimes needed a special application from Microsoft to find out what was cutting you off at the knees and ruining your day.

More than one NT4 MCSE completely locked themselves out of the server (even Administrator couldn’t log in) the first time they tried to configure security.

One person I know somehow forgot their password on a home PC with Vista. There was no apparent way to salvage her documents folder before doing a factory restore. Administrator account disabled by default. Not usable even in command line repair mode. Even installing the drive as a secondary on another PC got “Access Denied/File Not Found” Now that’s security! Pfui! The average user suffers so that the occasional sap-headed businessman who is too vain or stupid to encrypt his documents can lose his laptop without s___ting a brick.

I remember the brouhaha about moving to 2000 from 98 and from 2000 to XP…in fact, till this date, I change my XP settings back to look like 2000. Still, XP is a better OS …more flexible…

Same is with Vista. It has its own nifty features..lot of them more of conveniences then necessities…BUT IT DEFINITELY is more secure then XP.

Atleast for now !!

Also, it crashes less then XP.

I played with Office 2007 for a while some interesting features but the changes took a while to get use to.  Since I deal mostly in Access and Excel, I decided not to convert to Office 2007 at this time and put off Vista for as long as I can.

I have not had any problems with either although I did find XP easier to use. But then I know so damn little about computers it could be simple or hard in comparison with something elese and I wouldn’t know the difference.
