‘Toon Physics’ and the Hillary Campaign
The Economist endorses Obama as the Democratic candidate, though not yet as president
My choice for Quote Of The Week on the Clinton campaign:
“IN CARTOONS there is often a moment when a hapless character, having galloped over a cliff, is still unaware of the fact and hangs suspended in the air, legs pumping wildly, until realization dawns, gravity intervenes, and downfall ensues...
- The Economist editorial page, ”Almost There”, 10 May 2008
The editor went on to say that “Mr. Obama’s refusal to follow her (and Mr. McCain) in supporting an idiotic summer suspension of the petrol tax, crude economic populism at its worst, was especially notable.” There’s lots more - Go Read!
But why would Clinton concede when she’s got Obama right where she wants him? Clearly he’s the one who should be worried!
Posted by Lucas on 05/11/08 at 05:59 PMMuch as I loath to admire politicians, I can’t help myself but to admire Obama. The man has political courage, among several other virtues. He even strikes me as more of a statesman than as one of the good old boys and girls of politics. I dearly hope I’m right about him.
By the way, George, I took the liberty this evening of slapping an annoying award on your blog.
