Thunder-blogging
Illinois begins the thunder season late this year
While the rest of the country has endured all kinds of crazy weather this year, Illinois has had a wonderful, cool, sunny, breezy, incredibly pleasant spring. Normally by now the tornado sirens have gone off a half-dozen times (and ignored by many somewhat fatalistic locals, causing much hand-wriging among the safety-obsessed.)
But I can hear a good thunderstorm crackeling up outside, and the weatherman showed a picture of a jetstream slipping right by our part of the state with big thunderclouds under it and the headline; “Heavy storms all weekend.” So I guess it’s back to normal.
I do enjoy lying in bed listening to thunderstorms. Takes me back to when I was a kid in Iowa City.
