Must be nice to sleep that easily

The setup: Oscar is sleeping in his favorite window.  I’m just outside that window, installing a new piece of siding.  Five 2.25-inch nails, five or six hammer blows each.  And here is his response:

He didn’t even open an eye.  Mind you, this is the same 13-year-old cat who will wake up, jump off his perch and come into the kitchen if he detects the faint sound of a Rubbermaid container being opened…

  1. Ahhhh….  kitty.

My cat (Scratchy) is much younger than Oscar, so when I start playing Nine Inch Nails loudly, he’ll open his eyes, look annoyed, and fall right back asleep.

  2. There’s a quote I remember from long ago:

“Cats are rather delicate creatures, and they suffer from a great many ailments, but I have never heard of one that suffers from insomnia.“

  3. I’m willing to bet he opened one eye when you weren’t looking, saw who was making the noise and went back to sleep. The vibration should have caused him to take notice, but he trusts you.

  4. It seems our cats never cease to amaze us.
