Ken Miller deconstructs “Intelligent Design” (video)
YouTube video of molecular biologist and Dover trial witness Ken Miller’s presentation about Intelligent Design
Advocates of Intelligent Design want to “Teach The Controversy™” in their attempt to undermine scientific naturalism. They ought to be careful what they wish for. Specifically they had better hope Ken Miller, acclaimed and widely published Brown University molecular biologist, doesn’t end up handling the class.
Here’s his post-Dover address, The collapse of Intelligent Design, wherein he recounts parts of the Dover trial and takes ID apart piece by piece. By the way, he managed to do all of that without calling anyone an idiot, a moron, or a “demented f*wit”.
It’s quite long: the first 75 minutes is his presentation, then about a half hour of Q&A from the audience. I was doing the recycling while it ran and had to stop and replay a few parts. But I found it very interesting and learned a lot. (Thanks to Orac for posting the link.)
It’s very simple really. If ID wants their BS taught in the classroom they should get it accepted by the scientific community just like everyone else has to. But instead they go straight to the school boards and to court rooms. Not very scientific at all…

Posted by WeeDram on 03/12/07 at 09:28 PMAs been witnessed before on DOF’s site, it is the insignificant posts that get the most comments. People don’t care much about the world…
