Don’t be evil

Dictatorships are using the filtering power of networks

Seems the world’s dictators have awakened to the possibilities… Net censorship spreading worldwide.  The disturbing angle is all the Western firms helping them do it, especially the one whose slogan is ‘Don’t be evil’. 

Google is a great company, with world-changing innovation, and I understand they want a chunk of a billion-soul market share.  But why don’t they (and Cisco, and ...) just tell the dictators to censor their own damn connections? 

It reminds me that information technology companies are not new to complicity with horrible regimes.
