Really serious accountability in China

Wow, when the buck stops in China, it stops HARD

Remember Janet Reno taking “full responsibility” for Waco and Ruby Ridge, but not doing a damn thing about either one of them?  Remember “Heckuva Job” Brownie after Katrina?  Notice how Oliver North is a big TV hero these days?  Sometimes it seems we take accountability rather lightly in our country.

Not China, though.  Let your agency get corrupt and screw up the trust that other countries have in your exports, causing billions of dollars of consequences and driving thousands into poverty, and you’re in deep sludge:  Former Chinese FDA director sentenced to death.  And 31 others have been charged in the corruption case.  Somehow I doubt they can expect a light slap on the wrist, either.

  1. Well what do you expect from China they are a backward thinking country. We in the progressive user friendly USofA would never think to hold someone responsable for their action and take immediate and swift action to make sure that the violation of public trust was not taken so lightly. Then on the other hand we did send Martha Stewart to prison for her crimes against humanity.

  2. It would be entertaining to see the sudden exodus from politics if we started holding our politicians to this standard on corruption.  There’d be about eight people left in Washington, and four of them would be pushing brooms. LOL

    Then on the other hand we did send Martha Stewart to prison for her crimes against humanity.

    At least we were safe from her crappy decor for a little while.

  3. Martha was no crimes against humanity but she deserved every second she got in prison.  As do all of the other asshole execs that think fudging numbers or getting insider info is ok.

    Hell in the US we don’t even have to execute these execs.  Just send one of them to prison, a real prison.  If we would have done that right after Enron, the others would have learned.
