Not reassuring

So I’m at Wal-Mart a few minutes ago, self-checking out my groceries and the machine reboots in mid-checkout:
Windows is shutting down
I went to the next checkout lane and it worked fine. But as I swiped my AmEx, I thought; “Man, I hope their patches are up-to-date…”
Walmart!
I would hope that one working in an occupation in a direct relationship with computers as long as you have! Well! Alex works at Walmart. His position is CASHIER, he’s really good at his job. I like Alex, he scans my items in and I simply have to swipe my ATM-DEBIT card enter the seceret code (4 simple digits), and he presents me with my receipt.
A simple exchange of departing pharses and I am on my way.
Machines are going to put us all out of jobs in the future. Yes, even the ones now building the machines. Automobiles are mostly assembled by robots. (Machines building machines.:rool:
After an episode with a major grocery chain that had a FUBAR accounting system in their computer that billed me and about 100,000 others twice I quit using a debut card. I go to the back about once a week and write a check for the cash I figure that I will need for the week. I use a credit card for gasoline purchases ..mostly to keep track of when and how much I spend on gas. If left up to me scanners and debit cards would be outlawed. The only thing that I do like is the computer that tells the store that your check is good and the money is in your account. If I had of had one when I was in business it would have saved me a lot of money lost in the bad checks I tok in.
