Hillary Clinton does her Jimmy Carter imitation

May 25, 2006

Over at Stupid Evil Bastard is a discussion of “Hillary Clinton thinks we should go back to 55 mph”.  It’s hard to imagine a dumber statement from a politician right now and if the Democratic leadership has any brains at all, they will NOT consider her as a candidate.  Go check it out.

Who’s your dream Democrat ticket?  Somebody who actually has a chance of winning and won’t say stupid stuff like that.

Update: apparently Hillary’s on a roll by saying young people don’t like to work

“….if the Democratic leadership has any brains at all, they will NOT consider her as a candidate.”

If the democratic leadship had any brains at all they would not be democrats! It is the party of socialism and total control of the masses and is heading for a showdown which may well be a bloody one that they cannot win…unless they are sure enough liars and do keep guns.

Uhh, sure, duly noted.  Anyone else?

As quoted on SEB, it’s a non-event; so many qualifiers it’s meaningless.  “if the Democratic leadership has any brains at all” … they would move to the left.

Doesn’t make any difference, we will either get a democratic crook or a republican crook. Both parties are tax and spend, one is just tad more honest about it until election time. I don’t see any one from either party that I would support.

Americans had a chance to elect an excellent President in 2000, but chose an “aw shucks” cowboy instead.

You know James that’s the kind of statement I expect from a Bush supporter that is following party lines and is now straying farther from Bush.

Oops, lost my train of thought.  Coming from an eco-friendly person like yourself DOF, I’m surprised to hear you say that.  It is proven that lower speeds equal better gas mileage which in turn is better for the environment.

You weren’t around the last time somebody tried this lame-brained trick.  Suffice to say it didn’t go well.  Not only did almost nobody actually drive 55, but respect for the law took a beating, a massive industry in radar detectors was born, and Carter was booted right out of office.  Being eco-friendly entails attempting changes that are feasible.

Cars can be engineered to get good gas mileage at 75mph, but good luck re-engineering the voting public.  Making everyone drive 55 is slightly easier than making everyone ride a bicycle, but not much.

Still waiting for anybody to suggest a good Democratic running ticket.

Point well taken, but if someone is trying to do some good in the world I’m not gonna stop them.  Not that I vote for Clinton anyways.  I think I would support Kucinich because of his support for a department of peace, I like the issues he supports, and he has been against the Iraq war.  I like someone who at least pretends to stand up for what they believe in.
