ANYWAY, I just sailed in from a comment you made on Pharyngula, compelled to say I know exactly what you mean about religious believers and their fear that their superstitions are built on sand. I attended seminary, and watched a class of 40 catholics who wanted to be priests go into theological shellshock every day, as they learned about the history of what they took to be self-evidently unquestionable.
It’s almost impossible now to recapture the state of mind that made me want to believe in something incomprehensible, by believing in many things which were unbelievable.
Happily and openly atheist now. And apparently called “Brother Jackhammer of Mild Reason”.
