There’s “stupid” and then there’s “Facepalm stupid”

The World Shipping Council has a novel argument for why speed limits actually increase the chances of a collision: you’re in the area longer.  Seriously.  Why, this could revolutionize traffic safety!

Only one reaction to anything that dumb comes to mind…

Reminds me of the OLD joke:

Cop, addressing guy he just caught for speeding, “Wanta tell me why you’re in such a hurry?”

Miscreant:  “Yeah, the brakes are out on this car and I was trying to hurry home before I had an accident.”

One would think that shipping something would require some knowledge of physics.  Oh wait … that’s science.  Our politicians told us that’s unnecessary.

Let’s face it- if you’re moving at the speed of light, who’s gonna hit you?

Zilch, I didn’t know it was the space-shipping council!

Anyway, this must be the same logic as to why it is more fuel-efficient to speed – you get there quicker, so your engine can be turned off earlier!

See? Improve your life through SCIENCE AND LOGIC!
