Should I file this under religion?  Under politics?  Or under stupidity?

April 8, 2008

I could write a long, drawn out response to the Illinois representative who told atheist Rob Sherman “You have no right to be here!”, and opining that it is dangerous for children to even know his philosophy even exists, thus taking a blowtorch to the US Constitution.  After all, her words are an almost perfect example of “hate speech” if anyone needed one – and in her official capacity, no less. But why should I bother?  En Tequila Es Veridad answers representative Davis just about right and then goes on to explain the pathological fear of atheists.  If there was ever an appropriate use of profanity…

Update: Davis has apologized.  Sort of.  Well OK, not really.

You gave me the biggest boost of the week!  I’ve tried to return the love over there at my place.  It’s a bit further down the page than it should be – damn inspiration!  LOL.  Seriously, thank you for the kindly words, and keep writing!  You’ve got an awesome thing going here and you’re now on my regular rounds!

Definitely stupidity. There is nothing in religion or politics that makes a person stupid. Many are just born that way. Some are even somehow chosen to be leaders.

In National Lampoon’s “Deteriorata”, a parody of “Desiderata”, they said:

You are a fluke of the universe.  You have no right to be here.  And whether you can hear it or not, the universe is laughing behind your back.

Seems to apply perfectly to Representative Davis.
