Some oldies but goodies

April 6, 2008

Sometimes you save a link, but you forget why.  Maybe it “looked interesting”.  I just went through a bunch of those links and wound up pitching most of them.  But I found five that were definitely worth the time.  The first four are from ScienceBlogs:

  • James Hrynyshyn at Island Of Doubt offers Celsius as a political metaphor.  Spoken like a true Canadian.

  • Ed Brayton at Dispatches goes after the idea of demonizing the opposition.  He missed something: you really want to piss someone off?  Illuminate the humanity of their enemies.
  • Chad Orzel at Uncertain Principles has a pet peeve in the statistics on murdered children.  Or more correctly, in the exploitation thereof.
  • I can’t remember if I ever posted this before, but Steve at OmniBrain has the weirdest orange juice commercial you’ve ever seen.  The Florida orange juice commission should call these people right up.

And the fifth one is from Surgeon’s Blog: “No Alternative”.  I mean, really, what does it mean when a chiropractor takes credit for the fact that most five-year-olds are healthy?
