I agree, George. Most politicians are dysfunctional swine. We only love them because we are fools to project our hopes and dreams onto them.

But I guess the biggest thing on my mind this morning is “What next?” Any ideas what the Republicans will do now that they have control of the House and have won some governorships? I’m all ears.

Well, like most people they will do what they were paid to do. $3bn in anonymous corporate money poured into Republican campaigns and “independent” conservative groups, and corporations expect a return on their investments. Historically there’s never been a better investment than legislators and judges.

That makes me want to write a fan letter of gushing approval to the U.S. Supreme Court for their overturning so many campaign finance laws that once protected us against competing with massive corporate money. It’s a bit hard this morning to imagine the Court doing more for our democracy than that.

George, I was cheered up a bit by Glenn Greenwald today, who makes the argument here that yesterday’s election results do not represent a repudiation of the Democratic Left, as some people are saying, but rather a repudiation of the Blue Dog Democrats.

I love videos done in that style. Just sooo friggin hilarious.

Interesting point Paul on what the election means. I think Greenwald makes some valid points. Progressives have been upset with the Dem establishment for some time now. Ultimately I think we will learn more as this situation plays out.

I just hope Obama turns on his shine because he is going to need it to turn things around.
