Broke Bike Mountain

I think my mountain bike is sending me signals that it’s about ready to go to the bicycle shop in the sky.  It had a second metal-fatigue related failure yesterday: the gear shifter broke off.  Since it is made of high-quality aluminum (it isn’t a cheap bike) I think it is just the repeated stress from years of shifting.

Actually it’s more of a cruiser bike than a mountain bike, but I couldn’t resist the title, which leads to my comment on the movie about gay cowboys.

I’d love to see ‘Brokeback Mountain’ – it sounds very interesting as unusual things often are – but for one problem; it’s a romance.  If the trailer is a good representation of the movie, it’s just like a gay version of the bodice-rippers MrsDoF is always reading, and I don’t usually seek out movies with a lot of mushy parts in them.  Not even gay mushy parts.

Not that I’m opposed to romance in movies – I certainly did enjoy the compressed love-affair in The Terminator but movies about romance just aren’t my cuppa.

Now if they could add some explosions, and maybe some invading aliens…

I came over to see the photos in your post and then found this post to read and well, I found myself laughing out loud.  MEN AND MOVIES!  What can I say.  Mrs. Dof, you have my sympathy.

LOL, I love the part how you seamlessly combined two unrelated items into one post.  But come on man really, you have to see a romance film every once in a great while.  Or if you date my girlfriend you do… :)

Seldom, if ever, does he watch a chick flick.
And when he does, he has to analyze it, and then we usually figure out how we can go a bit further

  4. I am passing on Broke Butt movie also. I like my westerns with excessive violance, bloodshed and women of questionable morals.

Dating your girlfriend, Webs05?  I can’t recall ever even meeting your girlfriend, I swear! ;-)

MrsDoF and I went last fall to see the 1947 version of The Ghost And Mrs Muir which I enjoyed very much.  So I’m not completely unromantic.  But the best movie I’ve seen in a while is The Incredibles and even that had romantic parts along with the explosions and violence and smart dialogue.  It just isn’t a Romance movie.

I did enjoy The Unforgiven but I think my favorite Western movie is Back To The Future III, of which here is a hilarious parody.

UPDATE:  well, MrsDoF went and rented the thing – she said she had crocheting to do and wanted some movie to watch.  Her review is less than complimentary, to say the least.  I saw a few minutes of it and she told me it was a lot more of the same.
