At far left is the world headquarters of the State Farm insurance company. The tall building left of center was the world’s tallest dormitory when it was built. Out-of-frame at right is the original SF headquarters, and our Mitsubishi auto plant. Not visible is another university (Illinois Wesleyan), a candy factory, a couple really great local coffee shops, lots of fast food places, the “cultural district,” about 100,000 of our neighbors, and lots of other stuff.

I connected a link to this color picture within my birthday post to show the readers some corn country. The memory of that day back then really was nice, because our family was out of the polluted Valley and the noise of the riverboats and mill whistles. This picture tells so much about development and the need for serene places.
